Personal Concierge Services

.A personal concierge provides services to people who don’t have the time to do them. They therefore pay someone to efficiently take care of their business. Although only so fairly recently, personal concierge services have surged considerably, along with the demand for such businesses. Several personal concierge businesses in the United States haves seen their clientele grow up to 50 percent annually since 1996. “Membership in the National Association of Professional Organizers, which includes some professionals who provide concierge services, swelled from a few hundred when founded in 1985 to more than 1,100 members by the late 1990s.” (www.entrepreneur.com). According to Sara-Ann Kasner, president and founder of the National Concierge Association, “The concierge business is exploding right now. Personal Concierge Services are available to clients for in a variety of ways, including:

· Child Care Services (e.g. chauffeuring or supervision)
· Dining reservations, activities (e.g. booking tee times, privates tours, etc)
· Errand services (e.g banking, cleaning, delivery, pharmaceutical, and post office)
· Executive and corporate assistance (e.g. organizational services, planning meetings, transporting clients, etc)
· House-sitting serviceS (e.g. tending to the garden and plants, cleaning and sticking the fridge, supervising teenagers, caring for the elderly etc)
· Office help (e.g. faxing, filing, organizing, photo-copying etc)
· Pet Care Service (e.g. feeding, walking, grooming etc)
· Planning Dinner Parties and Other Events (invitations, food and drink, decorating, music/entertainment)
· Relocation Services  (e.g. evaluating mortgages, and rentals, moving and storage arrangements, settling-in services etc)
· Repair and Maintenance Services for vehicles and other equipment
· Shopping Services (e.g. buying groceries, gifts, gift-wrapping,  and returning items)

The significant increase in the demand for personal concierge services is attributed to the fact that most people are simply swamped with minor important chores (correspondence, bill payments, and other paper work).  Managing to accomplish these chores requires time and organization. Some people need help just to get organized while others are faced with an such overwhelming list of ‘to dos’, that they turn to (or would like to be able to turn to) professionals to help stay them organized, run errands, and ensure that their business and personal obligations are duly met.
If one desires to become a personal concierge business owner and start his or her own personal concierge service business, one basically needs a genuine desire for it, along with good communications and interpersonal skills, and sound etiquette. As a personal concierge, one can earn an hourly rate of $25 or $50. A career as a personal concierge can be exciting as well as lucrative, enabling one to use their creativity to provide services for busy people.
In today’s busy society, a large number of people would benefit from being helped to get their personal errands managed. As a personal concierge, one will therefore find work that is fun, interesting, and exciting, as it will make one feel valued and appreciated. Additionally, one may even work as a personal concierge from home, scheduling errands around their own personal family life and commitments. One may either work hands on, providing services himself, or one may decide to manage other service providers offering services through their concierge business
